Inhaltsangabe: | Zu Beginn des 20.Jahrhunderts macht die aus guten Kreisen stammende Lucy Honeychurch (Helena Bonham Carter) mit ihrer Anstandsdame und Begleiterin Charlotte Bartlett (Maggie Smith) Urlaub in Florenz. Als sie dort das versprochene Zimmer mit Aussicht nicht erhalten, tauschen Vater und Sohn Emerson (Denholm Eliott, Julian Sands) mit ihnen die Zimmer und schließlich mit ihnen Bekanntschaft. Lucy ist beeindruckt von dem jungen George, verliebt sich in ihn und verbringt einen herrlichen Urlaub mit ihm.
